Enabled employees to work remotely and ensured data security and compliance

Client Background

A leading global Tech company, boasting over 1 billion members and a diverse business model.

Client Need

In order to streamline operations, enhance productivity, and drive innovation, the client recognized the need to embrace modern automation technologies. They wanted to:

  • Migrate from Automation Anywhere Enterprise v10 (v10), an on-premises RPA solution, to Automation 360 (A360), a cloud-native, intelligent automation platform.
  • Address potential differences in architectures, frameworks, and coding standards.
  • Test and validate any issues or discrepancies that arise during the migration process.
  • Modify v10 bots to bots compatible with Microsoft Edge browser so they can be used after decommissioning of Internet Explorer.

Our Solution

  • Migration to A360: Leveraged the Bot Migration Wizard, integrated within the A360 Control Room, to seamlessly migrate code from v10. The wizard efficiently handled the migration of multiple bots (Task Bots and Meta bots) along with their dependent bots.
  • Handling v10-specific concepts: Transformed Metabot logics into individual task bots in A360, while preserving DLL (Dynamic Link Library) files as references in the Control Room.
  • Error Resolution: Addressed variable mapping issues. For instance, in v10, creation of an Array-type variable would be converted into a table variable in A360. However, this conversion occasionally led to zero rows and columns, resulting in runtime errors when utilized in a task.
  • Package Management: Ensured that packages utilized for A360 task bots were designated as default to prevent unknown runtime errors.
  • Object Capturing Updates: Adjustments in object capturing properties necessitated recapturing in A360 to ensure optimal functionality.
  • Authentication: Implemented Okta to introduce multiple authentication methods for logging into applications used by the bots.

Key Benefits

  • Scalability: A360’s cloud-based architecture offered greater scalability, allowing the company to accommodate growing user bases, increasing data volumes, and evolving business needs.
  • Cost savings: By adopting A360’s pay-as-you-go pricing model, the company eliminated the need for large upfront investments in hardware and infrastructure.
  • Improved collaboration: A360 provided features and tools designed to enhance collaboration among team members across all geo locations.
  • Enhanced accessibility: Enabled employees to work remotely or on the go, improving responsiveness to customer needs and facilitating flexible work arrangements.
  • Increased innovation: A360 offered access to advanced features, APIs, and integrations, fostering creativity.
  • Data security and compliance: By migrating to A360, the company benefited from the cloud provider’s robust data security measures, including encryption, access controls, and compliance certifications, helping meet regulatory requirements more effectively.
